At 28, William knows his culture and shares it with schools by
giving classes in cultural activities. He is a Ta'an Kwäch'än First
Nation citizen living in Whitehorse, Yukon. He has danced at
various events, including the 2008 North American Indigenous
Games and during the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics.
William wants to help youth see that they always have choices
for better futures and achieving their dreams. He shares "You
have the power and the choices to control who and what you
become and to shape the worlds before you."
Another way he has connected with youth in his community is
through the Capoeira classes that he has started. This is a
South American Martial Art that incorporates exercise, music
and games. William plans to get a Master's certificate in this sport.William is a Youth Support Worker and an employee of the
Ta'an Kwäch'än Council. The National Aboriginal Role Model
Program is an initiative funded by Health Canada.
